4 apps to help you fight human trafficking

If you're like me you want to do something about trafficking but with the busyness of life you need tools that make it easy to do. We've done some research and have found three apps that can help you fight human trafficking.  These are great to have in easy reach wherever you go.  You never know when a conversation about trafficking will pop up.  Now you'll be armed and ready to make a difference.

BAN Human Trafficking App

This mobile Application was produced with the aim to educate the users about the issue of human trafficking and prevention of this type of crime. By playing this interactive game, the users will be able to get acquainted with different types and stages of trafficking in human beings, from recruitment, exploitation and escape from the trafficking ring, down to recovery, social reintegration, and struggle to exercise the rights belonging to human trafficking victims.

Having been acquainted with potential dangers, the users will be able to recognize similar situations in everyday life, and thus protect themselves and the people they know.

Slavery Footprint App

Ever wondered if your life contributes to slavery?  This app asks you a series of questions and then gives you a score of how many slaves work to support your life.  It only takes a couple of minutes.  A great app to use as a conversation piece when talking to people about trafficking.

Free2Work App

Now you can find out if the products you buying are involved in human trafficking.  Arm yourself with this app every time you go shopping for food, clothes, electronics and just about everything. There is even a funky scanner to scan barcodes of the product to give you the info you need straight away.  You might be surprised what you find.  For example, did you know Toberlone does not monitor its suppliers each year, leaving them open to using cocoa farmed from child labourers?  Not only will this app change your shopping habits that affect trafficking but it's a great way to get a conversation going and raise awareness.  You can even join in by helping them build their database if you find products they don't have.

Redlight Traffick App

A simple way to say NO to human trafficking.

How it works:

1. Recognise: With the app, you learn the signs. Next time there's a red flag, you will be able to recognize it.

2. Report: Victims may be unable to speak up and get the help they need. It's up to us to say something, and the Redlight Traffic app is a discreet, anonymous way to make a difference.

3. Recover: We share reports with local authorities. When you speak up about what you see, you enable police and trained responders to catch the bad guys and help the victims.

4. Release: Let's free the world from slavery, one community at a time. Share the app with your friends and family, then start a local coalition to get your neighborhood involved.
