Abolishion would like to say a big thank you to GBG PLC and to their staff member Avikal Bajpai.  Avikal nominated Abolishion for the "GBG Gives Back Competition” and was delighted us to tell us that he won.  As a a result, GBG will be donating $500 to Abolishion’s work in fighting human trafficking.

Human Trafficking is a powerful movie that presents the ugly reality of our times! A reality where 27 million people are being held captive in modern day slavery, a reality where 2.4 million people are trafficked at any given time. This movie shows us that this reality is much closer to us than we think.

January was a milestone month for all of us here at Abolishion.  It is wonderful to see our dream and years of hard work come to fruition.  

Maybe you’ve tried to have conversations with your friends about human trafficking and it’s all gone wrong.  Maybe they didn’t want to know, it was too difficult to hear or just left everyone in tears.  This isn’t especially good if the conversation comes up at someone’s birthday party!  Here are some tips I’ve put together to help you have conversations that bring change not tears.

If you're like me you want to do something about trafficking but with the busyness of life you need tools that make it easy to do. We've done some research and have found three apps that can help you fight human trafficking.  These are great to have in easy reach wherever you go.  You never know when a conversation about trafficking will pop up.  Now you'll be armed and ready to make a difference.

The topics covered offer beginners a great foundation of knowledge and arouses ones curiosity on the subject. The book is easy to understand and the use of diagrams simplifies the complicated and elaborate scheme that is organised crime.

A look at modern day slavery

Early last year Leanne took the time to have a Skype call with me to share her story. She recalled being drawn to Europe after a trip that laid heavily on her heart, driving her to pursue a fight against the exploitation of many vulnerable people across Europe. After a number of years living in England and Paris, popular destination countries for the sex-trade, she was referred to Romania by anti-trafficking organisations that confirmed there were many women in the sex trade across Europe that were Romanian. As a high-profile source country, Romania is now where Abolishion is based.

As always, the team have been working hard to achieve some great milestones this month.
