January 2016 News

As always, the team have been working hard to achieve some great milestones this month.

RESTORE HOME OPENING VERY SOON

December was a pivotal month in the life of Abolishion with us locating the place we will run our first Restore Home for survivors of human trafficking.  As you can imagine, we are super excited about this. Not only has it been months of work come to fruition but it is also a much needed service that we know will rewrite the futures of those who have survived the horrendous ordeal of being trafficked and sold in prostitution.

We will spend January setting up and furnishing the location.  We would love for you to be involved by buying some much needed furniture for the Restore Home.  We've set up an online shop where you can purchase items for the home on our behalf.  You choose what it is you would like to buy.  Know that when you do purchase something that it will be making a direct difference in getting a survivor back on their feet again.  Check it out here:  Furnish For Freedom Shop

SPEAKING AT THE 5TH AGORA INTERNATIONAL ADMINISTRATION CONFERENCE

Our team have been busy presenting at 5th Agora International Administration Conference on "The role of the Human Factor in Ensuring Human Security".

We were honoured to be asked to present at this conference attracting police, civil servants, professors and university students.  Ioana Mascaș, our media expert, spoke on safe social media. Rachelle Eddy, from our Restore team, spoke on best practice for first response to survivors.  Read more

SAFE SOCIAL MEDIA

Thanks to Jean Balogh Illustration we were also able to create a short video on how to be safe on social media.  This video was developed from real cases that we know of.  We've designed the video to be shared on social media as well as in schools.  It is available in English and Romanian and we already have requests for it in other languages.  Please feel free to share it around.

So once again, it's been a busy but productive month as we continue, with you, to break the systems that keep people in sex slavery.

Thank you for partnering with us.
